1.Acceptance
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of Storyaverse, including the website, reading works, publishing content, member subscriptions, and author earnings.
By creating an account, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accept these terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the features that depend on one.
2.What Storyaverse is
Storyaverse is a self-publishing platform for books and comics. Authors publish their works, organize franchises, keep a timeline of posts for their readers, and may offer up to five subscription tiers with exclusive content. Readers discover, follow, and support these authors.
Storyaverse provides the technical structure and intermediates subscription payments through partner payment processors. Storyaverse is not the publisher, co-author, or editor of the works: content is the responsibility of whoever publishes it.
3.Your account
- Provide accurate information and an email address you control. The account is activated only after you confirm that email.
- Your account is personal. Keep your password safe and do not share it. You are responsible for what is done with it.
- After several unsuccessful sign-in attempts, the account may be blocked to protect it.
- You can change your email and avatar in settings. Changing your email requires confirming it again.
- You cannot change your account name yourself. If it needs correcting, contact us.
If you suspect misuse of your account, let us know right away at [email protected].
4.Author profile and pen name
To publish, you create an author profile by choosing a pen name. Your pen name is unique on the platform and identifies you publicly, including in the address of your author page.
Your pen name and page address are permanent: once created, they cannot be changed, either by you or by the Storyaverse team. Choose carefully, and do not use another person's name, a third party's brand, or a name that could mislead readers.
5.Rights to the works
Your work is yours. Everything you publish remains your property, and Storyaverse acquires no copyright in your works.
So that the platform can work, you grant Storyaverse a free, non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, technically reproduce, adapt the format of (for example, generate cover thumbnails), and display your content to readers who have access to it, and to show covers, titles, and descriptions within the platform itself. This license exists only to operate and promote the service, and it ends when you delete the content, except for backups and records kept for the period required by law.
By publishing, you guarantee that you are the author of the content or hold every authorization needed to publish and monetize it, and that it does not infringe the rights of others, such as copyright, trademark, image, or privacy rights.
Other authors' content is protected. You may read it on the platform, but you may not copy, redistribute, resell, or make it available outside Storyaverse without the author's permission.
6.Content and conduct rules
Storyaverse exists for creative freedom. Works of fiction may explore difficult, violent, or adult themes, as long as they are correctly rated. Even so, some content and conduct are prohibited in any context:
- Any content that sexualizes children or adolescents, or characters portrayed as being under 18 years of age, in any format, including text, drawings, animations, photographs, photomontages, or AI-generated images.
- Any content that sexualizes children or adolescents, or characters presented as under 18, in any format: text, drawing, animation, photography, montage, or AI-generated imagery.
- Intimate or sexual content of real people without their consent, including montages and deepfakes.
- Content that infringes the copyright, trademark, or image rights of others, including republishing someone else's work as your own.
- Threats, harassment, stalking, or disclosure of real people's personal data.
- Content that promotes or incites violence, discrimination, or hatred against real people or groups, as defined by law. Depicting these themes within a work of fiction is not, by itself, a violation.
- Practical instructions for committing serious crimes, such as making weapons or explosives.
- Scams, spam, malicious links, viruses, or any attempt to obtain other people's data or money deceptively.
- Impersonating another person, an author, or Storyaverse itself.
- Circumventing the platform's security, payments, or access control, collecting data by automated means without permission, or creating accounts to evade a suspension.
7.Adult content rating
Every work has a content rating. Works with shocking content, sexual or not, must be rated 18+. The author is responsible for keeping the rating correct whenever the work changes.
18+ works are hidden from public lists by default, and readers must confirm they are 18 or older before opening them. Misrating a work to reach more readers is a violation of these terms.
Posts on an author's timeline and comments may not contain adult, sexual, or shocking material. That kind of content belongs in the works, with the proper rating.
8.Member subscriptions
Readers may subscribe to one of an author's tiers to access the content reserved for that tier and the tiers below it. The price, currency, and what each tier offers are set by the author and shown before payment.
- Each subscription lasts one month, counted from payment confirmation. When the subscription expires, access to exclusive content ends.
- You may have only one active subscription per author.
- You may move up to a higher tier at any time. If you pay in the same currency as your current subscription, you pay only the difference between the tiers; in another currency, you pay the full price of the new tier. Either way, the end date does not change.
- To move down a tier, you must wait for your current subscription to expire.
For payments in Brazilian reais, you can choose automatic renewal: the charge repeats every month until canceled. You can cancel renewal at any time in your account settings, under Subscriptions. The author may also cancel the renewal of your subscription. In every case, access you have already paid for continues until the end of the period.
9.Payments
Payments are processed by partner companies. In Brazilian reais, we accept credit card and Pix; in US dollars, euros, and yen, we accept stablecoins. The methods accepted for each currency are described on the About Storyaverse page. When you pay, you are also subject to the payment processor's terms, and card details are handled by the processor, not by Storyaverse.
Stablecoin payments are made directly from your digital wallet, on Ethereum-compatible (EVM) networks. Blockchain transactions are irreversible: check the coin, network, and amount before confirming. Network fees (gas) are paid by whoever sends the transaction. Storyaverse does not hold your keys or have access to your wallet, and is not responsible for losses caused by sending to the wrong network, by wallet or network failures, or by changes in the value of stablecoins.
10.Monetization for authors
Publishing on Storyaverse is free. Storyaverse charges only a commission on the subscriptions paid to authors. The current rates and how payment processor fees are handled are on the About Storyaverse page. Commission changes apply to new purchases and do not change subscriptions already purchased, including their automatic renewals.
To create subscription tiers, an author needs an active receiving method for each currency offered:
- To receive in Brazilian reais, the author registers a sub-account with the partner payment processor, providing a CPF or CNPJ and the other required details. The sub-account is used only after the processor approves it, and the processor's own terms also apply.
- To receive in stablecoin, the author registers a digital wallet on an Ethereum-compatible network. Registration is done by a transaction on the network itself, whose fees are paid by the author. The author is solely responsible for providing a correct address and keeping access to that wallet.
The author's share is sent by the payment processor directly to the registered receiving method when the payment settles. Payments that are disputed, refunded, or under review by the processor may be held or reversed under its rules.
Authors are responsible for the taxes on their income and for delivering what they promise their members at each tier.
11.Reports and copyright
If you find content that violates these terms or your rights, write to [email protected] with the content's address, a description of the problem and, for copyright, identification of the original work and of the rights holder.
We review every report and may remove the content, notify the author, or take the other measures in these terms. Intimate content shared without consent and any content sexualizing minors are removed as soon as identified and, where the law requires, reported to the authorities.
12.Moderation, suspension, and termination
The Storyaverse team may remove content, posts, and comments, correct ratings, and block or close accounts when these terms or the law are violated, when other users are at risk, or under an order from a competent authority. Whenever possible and permitted, we will state the reason.
You may stop using Storyaverse at any time and request that your account be closed by writing to [email protected]. Subscriptions already paid follow the rules in Member subscriptions.
13.Privacy
We process your personal data in accordance with applicable data protection law, only to operate the platform, process payments, keep it secure, and meet legal obligations. Payment data and author registration data are shared with payment processors to the extent each transaction requires.
When you upload an image to Storyaverse, we privately record your account ID, the IP address observed at the trusted entry point, the date and time in UTC, a request ID, a SHA-256 hash of the submitted file, and a reference to the saved image. This applies to avatars, covers, author-library images, book chapter images, and comic pages.
We use these records for platform security, investigation of misuse, and compliance with lawful requests. Access is restricted. Records are deleted after six calendar months unless a specific legal preservation hold applies. Deleting an image or account does not remove a record before that period ends. We disclose access records to authorities under the applicable legal process.
For questions or requests about this processing, contact Storyaverse at [email protected].
14.Availability and liability
We work to keep Storyaverse available and secure, but the service may experience interruptions, maintenance, and feature changes. We do not guarantee that it will be error-free at all times.
Each author is responsible for the content they publish, and each user for what they do on the platform. To the extent permitted by law, Storyaverse is not liable for content published by others, for failures of external services such as payment processors, digital wallets, and blockchain networks, or for indirect damages arising from use of the service.
15.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes in the service or the law. The date of the version in force is at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you by email or on the platform before they take effect and, when necessary, ask you to accept them again. If you keep using Storyaverse after that, you agree to the new version.
